Ghrishneshwar Temple

Built in red volcanic stone with beautiful carvings.

The Grishneshwar Temple is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site in Verul, near Aurangabad, dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is considered the 12th and final Jyotirlinga and is located just a short distance from the Ellora Caves. The temple is known for its intricate architecture, which was restored in the 18th century by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Grishneshwar (Shiva).

This story about the Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga is described in the Puranas- in the south country, there lived a very bright ascetic Brahmin named Sudharma, near the Devgiri Mountain. His wife's name was Sudeha. Both of them had a lot of love for each other. They had no problems of any kind, but they had no children.
